FW: apron parking

Dear neighbors,

In follow up to my earlier note and your letters to Jack Weiss, I spoke today to his field officer, Evan Gordon, who is directly responsible for this issue. Gordon thinks that Dukakis and Shoup used the issue of
ADA liability to scare city authorities into eliminating the apron parking concession.

I explained that ADA access may be a valid reason to curtail three-deep student parking on Levering, but we residents on Strathmore have always left the sidewalk clear and are ticketed if we transgress. He didn't know this, but thought the argument was good and worth checking out. I also emphasized that (a) Dukakis is seeking to impose MA values on a CA city that has inadequate public transportation and (b) that driving around in search of the last remaining parking place is exactly what Shoup legitimately objects to. Gordon is new to his job but  I suspect he empathizes with us and he has already secured a delay in enforcement, from July 1 to August 1. Perhaps a few of us could invite him over to see for himself (no SUVs on the apron that day!).

If I don't hear back before July 4th, I'll call him again. Also I alerted the road repair department to pothole outside the Strathmore Apts.

I've mislaid Roxane's email; Susan could you please forward this.

Regards,

Michael
